Registered Nurse Self Assessment Exam Available on AMP Web Site

The Registered Nurse Self Assessment Exam is a practice tool to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a candidate who is interested in the certification process.  The cost of the exam is $35.  For every test that is purchased a portion of the cost will be donated to HPNF.  The exam is available to nurses on the Applied Measurement Professionals web site, www.goamp.com.   Click here to link to the Self Assessment Exam (SAE) overview http://store.lxr.com/product.aspx?id=229

Catch Up with Key to Your Heart Cases

Key to Your Heart cases are available from the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation for a $20.00 donation.  Used for giving to a special someone or as a special thank you, the heart-shaped metal cases are gold tone and enamel, studded and topped with a blue butterfly.  They come with three distinct keys inside that declare your friendship and love.  With the “E” key you are giving your friend an errand, the “C” key is a reminder that you will perform a chore and the “Heart” key signifies your love.

The cases are shipped to you in a white-satin-lined 3” square box made of light aqua handmade paper with a self-bow in complimentary light celery.  Both the box and the heart case are inscribed with the HPNF logo.  See a photo on the HPNF website, www.hpnf.org.

These gifts were very popular at Annual Assembly where people exclaimed the Web photo did not capture the essence of the heart cases.  Some who ordered at the assembly are already placing repeat orders!  Orders can be placed online or by calling HPNF at 412-787-9301.  (No charge for shipping!)

HPNF/STTI End-Of-Life Nursing Care Research Grant Immediate Deadline

The HPNF/STTI End-Of-Life Nursing Care Research Grant deadline is April 1.  Information is available by selecting the Grant tab on HPNF website.

HPNF and Certification go Hand in Hand

The value of certification is critical to the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation.  To that end we have implemented two different ways to support certification.

1) Certification Scholarships

The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation awards up to four Certification Scholarships to underwrite the cost of the certification process for successful candidates on all four levels of certified caregivers – advanced practice, generalist nurse, licensed practical nurse and nursing assistant.  Applicants must be members of HPNA and must supply proof of exam proficiency.  Application  deadline is June 1.  Awards will be announced in summer 2007.

2) Certification Research Grant

HPNF is proud to announce its new Certification Research Grant debuting this year.  One grant of up to $7500 will be awarded annually to fund research reflecting outcomes by certified nursing personnel in end-of-life care.  This new grant makes it possible for HPNF to further carry out its mission to advance excellence in hospice and palliative care.

Applicants must be actively involved in hospice and palliative care, education or research and hold an advanced degree.  This application deadline is also June 1.
