2008 Annual Assembly Call for Proposals

The 2008 Annual Assembly sponsored by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association will be held January 30 – February 2, 2008 in Tampa Bay, Florida.  

The call for Clinically Based proposals opens on March 15, 2007 and the deadline for submission of Clinically Based Proposals is May 1, 2007. Proposals are submitted via the Internet on the AAHPM website.

Note: The call for Proposals for Research Based topics will be from June 15, 2007 to July 16, 2007.  A 3rd call for Professionals in Training Case Conferences will open in the Fall, 2007.

HPNA Initiates Clinical Practice Forum

Nursing education is not standardized across the nation in terms of hospice and palliative education.  Recognizing this fact, the HPNA Board of Directors has recommended creating Clinical Practice Forums.  The first forum will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA on Friday, September 7 and Saturday, September 8, 2007.  Click here for additional information and registration.


The Generalist Clinical Review Train-the-Trainer course will be presented in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Saturday May 5, 2007.

The course is presented in a train-the-trainer format. Space is limited. HPNA is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Participants will receive 7.3 contact hours and an HPNA Approved Educator certificate. The Approved Educator status is valid until May 31, 2009 and is renewable as long as the educator is a member of HPNA. All Approved Educators must be members of HPNA. Course materials cannot be guaranteed for applications received less than 2 weeks before the program.  Link to additional information and application

Registered Nurse Self Assessment Exam Available on AMP Web Site

The Registered Nurse Self Assessment Exam is a practice tool to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a candidate who is interested in the certification process.  The cost of the exam is $35.  For every test that is purchased a portion of the cost will be donated to HPNF.  The exam is available to nurses on the Applied Measurement Professionals web site, www.goamp.com.   Click here to link to the Self Assessment Exam (SAE) overview: http://store.lxr.com/product.aspx?id=229

   

Catch Up with Key to Your Heart Cases
