What E-Learning options are offered?
The educational programs offered are on a wide range of clinical and professional topics for those caring for persons with life-limiting illnesses. Nursing contact hours are awarded for the programs. Member of the Interdisciplinary Team may also find the information appropriate and helpful.
Are the programs accredited by ANCC?
Yes, the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by PA State Nurses Association and an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association is also approved by the California Board of Registered Nurses, Provider Number 7076, as a provider of continuing education for nurses.
Is there a fee for the online programs?
The online programs have HPNA member and non-member pricing. The fee varies according to the number of contact hours awarded per program. HPNA members link through the Members Only area of the HPNA website to receive member pricing on these programs.
How do I pay for a course on your site? Is it secure?
After selecting the course, you will be asked to register (new user) or log in (returning user) and enter your credit card information. Payment is processed electronically using a credit card (VISA, MasterCard, Discover, or America Express). Credit card name, number, card holder name, and expiration date are required for processing.
Once the credit card information is processed, a validation result will appear on the screen and a receipt will be emailed to you. We know that you are concerned about the security of using a credit card over the Internet. To this end, the company used as our server has purchased security certificates so that all information entered on the registration and payment pages is encrypted upon transfer over the Internet.
*Note: your credit card information is not saved to your record, and must be re-entered each time you pay for a course.
I keep getting an error message when I try to register for a course. Help!
An error ususlaly occurs when a computer is set up not to accept cookies from a website. To correct this, clik on "Tools" from the menu bar when your Internet connection is open. Select "Internet Options" and then select "Privacy". Look at where your cookie settings are. Move the slide bar down to "Allow all cookies" and click "OK". After you reigster and your test is graded, return to this page and reset your cookie setting to where it was.

What Internet Browser is best for viewing programs?
Functionality is best achieved using Internet Explorer. You can download this browser free by going to the Microsoft website, http://www.microsoft.com . Click on Search, enter Download Internet Explorer, then choose the "Downloads" page. From here, select Internet Explorer. Some of the courses/programs have sound. Adobe Flash is required to view courses. (visit http://www.adobe.com to download the Flash player)
I can't remember my user name and/or password. How do I get it?

How do I get my test results?
After you select the course, submit payment, complete the course and answer the test questions, the examination is graded immediately and the results are displayed on your screen automatically. If you pass the test, the correct answer is supplied for any incorrect answer given.
After completing an evaluation for the course, you are also given the option to generate a Certificate of Completion. To generate a Certificate, click on the "Certificate" button. Print the Certificate using your Internet browser print button.
